Some nice things about the Rental House

This morning, after breakfast, we were all sitting in the living room doing hair and talking when Hannah states "Mom, I think I like this house". We were talking about what the kids liked and the over all agreement was the fire place. Can we have one in our home was the common refrain. It is so cozy after school and in the evenings (and some mornings) to sit by the fire place enjoying the heat.

This got me to thinking about some of the other nice things about this house.

My 'sewing room'.

This room is just off the kitchen and the only time it is used is when the kids go to get wood from the pile just outside the sliding doors from this room. It is also the storage area where all the extra diapers and boxes of things for the house are kept. Sally is lending me her sewing machine (and all that goes along with it) and the tables are from work. It is a great arrangement to have everything so convieniet and close. (The material on the ironing board and on the machine belong to the twins quits... which haven't gotten much further along that what they are here).

The cozy chair:
We're borrowing this chair from Karen & Mike. It is a recliner and though not wide enough for all of us to sit in (like "Aunt Jen's chair at home where I can sit and have all 3 kids sit on the arms or my lap and read stories) it reclines which we all enjoy. When they are nice to each other, the kids are often found snuggling in Aunt Jen's new chair.

The woodstove.

This is not a new picture. The kids often lay on the floor with Ryan and look at the farm paper or at Tractors. Julia is trying to find a combine here. They always look for Grandpa's, Ramie and Uncle Barry's tractors while they flip through.

It is also a nice place to warm up after their showers and then sprawl out. There are enough pillows that no one has to be left out (we only had 2 at the other house) and now Rach has moved a carpet in front of the fire so it is even cozier.

Though it isn't home, this house has been a real blessing. There is lots of room (though it may seem that there is more so because we just have the bare minimun of things there), it is quiet and it is close to the farm.

We are looking forward to moving back to our home (the kids call the rental the house and our house the home) hopefully soon. Ryan checks it out on his way home and last night the whole house was drywalled! Mudding and sanding start this week and hopefully next week painting can begin. The kitchen door are all cut out and ready to sand and paint, flooring has been bought and just waiting for delivery. It looks like (if things continue the way they are) that the house should be done the end of March/ beginning of April.
