Garage Sale, Thanksgiving and Eli's birthday

Thanksgiving weekend certainly was a busy one for us. It started off with a garage sale on Saturday morning.

Karen looks awake... I arrived at the house at 7:30 to get things set up and everyone was still sleeping - kids, parents - even mom and dad were still fast asleep in the trailer

There was lots of stuff - sadly mostly mine (outside anyways).

Lots and lots of chicken things.

Sadly, the next day Hettie went around my home and counted all the 'things' that had chickens on them and there was still over 50! Time to do more decluttering!

There were also lots of baby things. Karen sold one baby holder/play thing for $50 to some bikers who were camping out for the fair. The night before they had put the baby in an empty beer box so I guess they were willing to spend whatever to not have to do that again.

Kimberly didn't have much for the garage sale but decided to do some baking. Derek bet her $1 that she wouldn't sell anything (to anyone except us sisters) so Karen used that to convince someone to buy some cookies. There wasn't too much left over at the end of the day so she did pretty good.

Later in the afternoon everyone came over (except for Kim & Derek who had been there for the garage sale but had plans for the evening) and we had a great thanksgiving dinner. Everyone pitched in and we had a feast of turkey, potatoes, squash, beans & stuffing. After supper Karen brought out the turtle cake that she made for Eli's 2nd birthday.

He wasn't quite sure what to do with the candles so Hannah pitched in (with all her advanced knowledge of 3 years) and helped blow out the candles.

Though it was a long and busy day it was beautiful - the sun shone and it wasn't too cold. We were able to spend the day as a family together (and even make some money).

I can't believe you tried to sell that chicken thingy I gave you last year! Do you know how much I spent on that? I was wondering why I didn't see it in your beautiful apartment.

It is in my apartment... hanging on the door in the living room so I can see it every day!
