My New Home

Welcome to my new home...

Last week was a very busy week with packing and moving boxes just about every evening. Jon & Kelley and their children often came over to help lug the boxes up the stairs. One evening Jon even came by with a large piece of wood and a saw and made custom window openers.

Friday night Ryan decided that we would get a lot of the boxes moved over so, though it took a few hours for Rachel and I to lug boxes up from downstairs to the garage and a bit of time to get them into the trailer, with Jon & Kelley helping at the new place it only took 20 minutes to unload!Hannah wanted to help too - well she just wanted to provide music for us while we were unpacking

Saturday morning Brad & Brenda were over by 8am taking my bed apart and within 1/2 hour we were on our way. Once we got to the house, Tristan went right over to the van Dyk's to play with Lucas (he'd been asking all morning when he would get to go over there) and the rest of us plugged on, bringing boxes, beds, dressers, shelves etc up the stairs.

Amanda and Rachel cleaned windows (Amanda was hanging out the windows), Brenda was cutting material for the cupboard liners, Brad was setting up the bed and Kim & Derek unpacked boxes of books. By 11:30 everything was unpacked, pictures were on the wall and I was enjoying a quiet time in the living room.
This is the kitchen (notice there are 3 chairs now)
This is my living room. Curtains will be going up soon.

This is beside my fridge - the clock came from the boot sale in Tain a couple of years ago. It still keeps great time.

The bedroom. I was't able to get my quilt done in time but hopefully it will be completed in the next few weeks
A dark picture - but this is the bathroom. There is a great closet in here that is the depth of the shower and holds a TON of stuff!

Later on in the evening, there was a timid knock at the door (if you're coming over you have to knock loudly or I won't hear it). There were some of the vanDyk children as the Welcome Wagon, welcoming me to the neigbourhood. They gave me these lovely flowers and an invitation for dinner. What a great welcome to the neighbourhood.
Though small, this is really a great place for me. It is upstairs (I've been in the basement since I was about 14), there are lots of windows and light and it is quiet. It is sad to be away from Rachel & Ryan and their children who had welcomed me into their home for 4 years (how did time fly by so quickly) but I'm sure that now that they have the whole basement they will find their home fits them better too and now I'll be able to have the kids come over for a sleep over - how fun will that be!!
So if you're in the neigbourhood - come by for a visit. I can't wait to be able to have people over and show some hospitality.

Can't wait to have dinner at your house. We'll have to eat in shifts no doubt. Let's see. . . we'll need to eat in three shifts. What we could do is send the kids to the VanDyks and we could have a lovely time with the three of us on your three chairs.
Keep looking at the time and think of us in Tain.
God bless you in your new home.

Lucy - we could send all the kids to the VanDyks and just have the adults here. I have seats for 7 :)
