We
dding Dress Shopping
On Saturday morning (at 8:30 to be exact) Mom, Karen, Kim and Amanda met at Rachel's and the 6 of us headed off for Cambridge/Kitchener (after spending time saying hello to Tristan) to go wedding dress shopping for Kimba. We stopped first in Cambridge and though we liked some of the dresses at the first shop, they weren't very nice. The one lady (thankfully she wasn't the one helping us) kept muttering "there's too many of them.... how many dresses do they have... that is far too many". The lady helping us just showed us into a room and brought more dresses so it wasn't too bad. The first dress Kim tried o
n was beautiful - way out of the budget price range, but absotlutely beautiful. As she tried more dresses on we decided (as sisters) not to make any comments until we had heard what Kim thought. This was actually quite difficult... for those of you who know the Hovestadt girls, we are not often known for being quiet - especially when we are all together, but Kimba is pretty quiet when she doens't know what to think. She wouldn't say anything but 'I guess it's okay' then the rest of us would pipe up our opinion... "Oh it looks great! I don't like how it sits there. What is that on the train" with 5 other people giving opinions it isn't any wonder that it was loud. It looked like she was settled on the 2nd dress she tried on... but it was the first store so we had to keep looking.
The second place was The Dress Shop in Cambridge (on King St) Lori, one of the owners helped us and she was super nice! Once she got over the shock that we were all from 1 family, she brought out all the dresses that Kim described and we found the one. We still wanted to shop around, but as we went to the other 2 stores, we realized that none of us like any of the dresses and so by 11:45 we were back with Lori trying on the dress with different veils and that's the one Kim bought. (Derek if you happen to read this... it has big red sashes across the front and a red panel with black flowers on the train :).
Just 105 days (as Kim told us quite frequently) till the big day - October 27. It will fly right by, I'm sure. I'm looking forward to having another sister closer by (about 40 mins) and of course another brother.
