This weekend Mike & Karen, Kim & Derek and I went camping at Brant Park. Mom and Dad and Rachel, Ryan and Tristan along with Oma and Opa Hovestadt came up for the day on Saturday.

We had some exciting news! Kim and Derek are engaged!!! They are hoping to plan the wedding for this October - almost 4 months! Derek has a home in Waterdown already so they will be nice and close - about 30 mins from Cambridge!

We had a great time sitting by the pool (in the cold) and by a nice warm campfire in the evening. We even got pictures with 'the boys'. And of course since Karen was around there was a lot of picture taking. We went for a walk on Sunday evening and took lots of pictures of Kim and Derek. It is great to have Mike and Derek with you to take pictures because they will do whatever pose you ask and come up with good ones on their own... and they say the Hovestadt women are strange????
We had a great time away with the 5 of us. It was great to get to know the brothers in law a bit better and have some heart to hearts as well... and the best part (compared to our last camping trip) was that there were no noisy neighbours to get in trouble...(I think we were the loud ones this time but there was no one really close to us so it was okay).

Congratulations to Kim and Derek! Nice pictures, Jen. It looks like fun times with the Hovestadts. (no shortage of laughter, I'm sure. :) )

Ooooh - how exciting - congrats, on your "little" sister's engagement! Looks like lots of fun together - it's so nice to keep up the camping traditions, eh? - my family does, too, and we always have such a great time!

Laughter? Us?!? Never! Jen, you know that we are the most solem bunch... okay - I even managed to type that with a straight face. We did have lots of laughs. I love camping with Mike & Karen (not just because Mike does all the cooking) and now Kim & Derek will join us more (and he can do the dishes :)It is fun to carry on the traditions that our parents started.
